The incredible variety in beverage-holding vessels (tumblers, insulated tumblers, cans, bottles, plastic cups, paper cups, etc.) these days wasn’t enough to stump our design team on this one. The Universal 1-Cup Holder has the range to hold just about everything thanks to its 4” opening. This cup holder uses a set of rubber flaps in the opening to keep your drink from flopping around, and they provide just enough friction to keep your drink from bouncing right out of the cup holder in rough seas, whether it's a tiny 2" diameter can of Red Bull to a jumbo 3.75" diameter 40oz. can of Schlitz (CLASSY!). To top it all off, it has a tool-free mechanism to easily change the vacuum mount’s orientation from vertical to horizontal to 45 degrees, which makes just about any rigid, smooth surface on the boat suitable for mounting.

- Q: How strong are the vacuum mounts?
- A: “Strong like a bull.” 11 cm vacuum mounts have a rated pull strength of 60 kg, pulling straight out from the centre. Pull strength under a shear load, i.e. pulling from the side, will be lower. 15 cm vacuum mounts are rated at 100 kg. Obviously, using multiple vacuum mounts on a single product increases the maximum holding power.
- Q: How long do the vacuum mounts last before they lose power?
- A: There’s no set time limit on our vacuum mounts. It depends partly on the surface you attach them to, the condition of the vacuum mount, the load applied, and other factors. In general, vacuum mounts were designed to carry large sheets of glass and other solid surface materials, so smoother, flatter surfaces are ideal. Clean surfaces and clean SeaSuckers help maximise hold time. In any case, if the vacuum mount begins to lose some vacuum, it will alert you so you can restore it to full power before it detaches. The vacuum pump’s plunger will extend from the pump cylinder when it starts to lose power, revealing an orange indicator band. Once you see orange, that’s your cue to re-pump your SeaSucker.
- Q: Do I need to clean the surface I’m going to attach my SeaSucker to?
- A: Wipe off any dirt from the mounting surface before attaching your SeaSucker. While you’re at it, make sure the sealing edge of the vacuum pad is clean too. You don’t need to use alcohol wipes, as one overly enthusiastic customer told us they do, but a quick wipe with a damp paper towel or cloth wouldn’t hurt.
